This course is offered in a hybrid version. The hybrid delivery is a
combination of in-class instruction (2 hours) and online work (1
hour) per week. Students taking this course will need reliable access
to the internet, and should have a basic level of comfort using
computers as well as the self discipline to study online. Students
can expect to spend an additional three hours per week for online
activities such as postings, discussions, and homework. This is a web-
based course offered online, using Sheridan's current LMS (Learning
Management System). To take this course, students will need reliable
access to the Internet and manage the virtual component to the course.

Detailed Description
Students create professional spreadsheets and presentations using
specialized software. Students produce and edit spreadsheets of
varying complexity by entering and editing data, building formulas,
and enhancing spreadsheets. Students become proficient in using a
spreadsheet application to format, organize, analyze, and present
information. Students plan, create, and revise electronic
presentations. Presentations are enhanced by formatting slides using
design templates, styles, bullets and numbering, headers and footers,
and speakers notes. Visual appeal is created with images, animation
effects, and sound and video effects. Presentations are shared for
collaboration and review with others. Through hands-on learning and
guided practice, in-class discussions, and interactive lectures,
students learn the skills required to produce professional business
spreadsheets and presentations.

Critical Performance
By the end of this course, students will have demonstrated the
ability to produce business materials by a specified deadline using
spreadsheet and presentation software.
Learning Outcomes
To achieve the critical performance, students will have demonstrated
the ability to:
1. Produce basic spreadsheets with simple formulas.
2. Prepare charts, web pages, and workbooks with multiple
spreadsheets.
3. Apply advanced formatting features such as alignment, fonts,
styles, templates, graphic images, WordArt, maps, and borders.
4. Compose simple to advanced formulas using mathematical operators
or functions.
5. Differentiate between absolute, relative and mixed cell
references.
6. Define the features and functionality of the specialized
presentation software.
7. Create professional presentations and slide show presentations
with transitions and effects, enhanced formatting, images, and
multimedia objects.
8. Apply advanced formatting features such as colour schemes, design
templates, images, animation, and visual elements.
