Land Acknowledgement

Detailed Description
Study the basic definitions and concepts for planning and controlling the flow of material into, through and out of an organization. Designed for production and inventory management personnel and CPIM candidates, the course explores the fundamental relationships among the activities that occur in the supply chain from suppliers to customers. Additional topics include: types of manufacturing systems; forecasting; master planning; material requirements planning; capacity management; production activity control; purchasing; inventory management; distribution; quality management and Just-In-Time manufacturing. Students should have several years of related work experience and/or should have successfully completed the POM program (Principles of Operations Management program).

  1. Understand basic business-wide concepts, including understanding various supply chain environments, financial fundamentals, quality fundamentals, lean, and theory of constraints.
  2. Manage demand, including markets and customer expectations
  3. Understand transformation of Demand into Supply; including product design, process design, capacity management, planning, execution and control, and performance measurement.
  4. Understand supply issues, including inventory, purchasing cycle, and distribution
