Land Acknowledgement

Detailed Description
Continue learning descriptive language skills and talk about family and possessions. Express opinions and ask for advice, make compliments and express admiration. Ask and respond to simple questions and make meaningful statements about yourself, your family and your work. Talk about and describe past activities and events. Learn how to end a conversation.

This is the second course in the French language program intended to provide the foundation skills necessary for French language learning. Students may be assessed for French language level and moved into a higher level.


Course Critical Performance and Learning Outcomes

  Critical Performance:
By the end of this course, students will have demonstrated the ability to communicate simple French expressions and structures.
 
Learning Outcomes:

To achieve the critical performance, students will have demonstrated the ability to:

  1. Converse simply about oneself, family, workplace and everyday situations.
  2. Initiate enquiries and respond to them.
  3. Describe people & things; indicate possession.
  4. Articulate opinions, admiration, locations and time.
  5. Ask for and give information.

Evaluation Notes and Academic Missed Work Procedure:
The final exam will be administered online. Students, who fail to submit work on time, or in the format requested, are subject to a late assignment penalty. The penalty is a 5% per day reduction in the value of the student's grade for up to ten business days (excludes weekends or holidays). After that point, the work is worth zero percent. Students, who are not able to submit assignments on time due to health or medical reasons, need to negotiate with the professor ahead of time or if that is not possible to submit documented explanation. Students are expected to keep a copy of assignments and/or working notes for each assignment until the grade has been received. The professor may ask for submission of the working notes at any time during the course.
