Land Acknowledgement

Section II: Course Details

Detailed Description
Understand the disposition, concepts and skills necessary to express entrepreneurial spirit in the form of a business. An examination of an entrepreneur and entrepreneurship will be supplemented by an examination of the expression of entrepreneurs in the business world. Contemporary expressions of entrepreneurism and intrepreneurism, their contribution to the economy, their role in the changing workplace, and their role in global business will also be explored. Complete an entrepreneurial business plan in stages throughout the course.

To achieve the critical performance, students will have demonstrated the ability to:

  1. Develop a business plan that includes concept identification and development, planning, start-up, maintenance, management and expansion of a small business enterprise.
  2. Select the appropriate form of business startup based on their personal objectives: franchising, new start-up, or purchase of an existing business
  3. Apply research skills to develop feasibility studies for small business opportunities.
  4. Recognize and meet the needs of internal and external customers in a new business environment.
  5. Recognize the economic, social, political, and cultural variables which impact on a new business venture.
  6. Apply creative problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills to a real entrepreneurial venture.
  7. Communicate clearly, concisely and correctly in the written, spoken, and visual form that fulfills the purpose and meets the needs of the audience.
  8. Respond to written, spoken, or visual messages in a manner that ensures effective communication.
  9. Locate, select, organize, and document information using appropriate technology and information systems.
  10. Analyze, evaluate, and apply relevant information from a variety of sources.
  11. Manage the use of time and other resources to complete projects.
