Section I Notes: As of Fall 2019, our Adobe registration requirements will be changing. Students will need to register for the course at least three (3) days prior to the course start date. Upon registration, students will need to register with Adobe and download a license linked to their Sheridan username. A license can be downloaded by visiting https://getadobe.sheridancollege.ca. Upon the start date of the course, students will only be able to participate in the course if they've downloaded the appropriate license and logged in with their username and password. Last minute registrations will not be accepted. For information regarding the downloading of licenses, please contact our IT department at (905) 845-9430 ext. 2150 prior to the start date of your class.

Detailed Description
Create basic documents importing graphics and text. Become skilled at working with layers, typography, paragraph styles, page layout and longer document construction. Learn how to work with colour and prepare for output. Instruction is in a MAC lab.

Course Critical Performance and Learning Outcomes

  Critical Performance:
By the end of this course, students will have demonstrated the ability to work with introductory InDesign functions including editing with color, working with Master Pages, understanding graphic and text frames, and adjusting typography.
 
Learning Outcomes:

To achieve the critical performance, students will have demonstrated the ability to:

  1. Comprehend introductory InDesign functions including navigation, working with layers, and paragraph styles
  2. Creation of a 'PostCard' PDF file
  3. Apply solid colours to the InDesign Swatches panel, including tint and gradient swatches
  4. Modification of InDesign Frames, including reshaping text and graphics
  5. Demonstrate introductory ability to work with Master Pages
  6. Operate InDesign typography, including adding lines, adding rules, and adding spaces
  7. Handle introductory Exporting and Output methods, including introduction to Preflight
